Kelly Pierce

Kelly Pierce

Kelly Pierce is in his 20th season as a high school basketball coach and in his 17th season as a head coach. He spent 4 years as the head boys’ basketball coach at Scranton, prior to taking the reins of the Scranton girls’ program to start the 2005-2006 season. In 2012, the Hettinger-Scranton Night Hawks were formed and he has spent the past six seasons leading the Lady Night Hawks. He has been named district coach of the year 3 times and has compiled over 200 high school career wins.

Kelly is a native of Scranton, graduating from Scranton High in 1991. He earned his undergraduate degree from the University of North Dakota in 1996. After teaching in Grand Forks, and being displaced due to the flood of 1997, Kelly moved to Elko, Nevada where he taught special education at Sage Elementary for a year. In 1998, he was offered a teaching and coaching position in his hometown of Scranton and has remained there ever since. He earned his master’s degree in administration in 2006 from the University of Mary and is currently the elementary principal and athletic director at Scranton Public School. He also serves as the head track and field coach for the Night Hawks where he has been named the region track coach of year 5 times in his career.

Kelly and his wife of 17 years, Danelle, live in Scranton with their two children, Bailee (14) and Maddox (12). The family likes to travel and sports are a main area of interest. Kelly’s hobbies include playing amateur basketball, spending summers on the golf course, and hunting pheasants in the fall.

Jill Vote

Jill attended Rugby High School and graduated from there in 2003. She went on to attend North Dakota State University and graduated in 2007 with a major in Elementary Education and a minor in Coaching. In 2015, she completed her Master of Education degree from Valley City State University.

 

She began her teaching and coaching career at Rolette where she taught 4th grade and was the Assistant Girls’ Basketball Coach for 2 years, Head Girls’ Basketball Coach for 5 years and Assistant Track Coach for 7 years. She was also the Athletic Director her final year at Rolette.

Jill is now in her 8th year of teaching and coaching at North Star Public Schools, and in her 15th year overall. She currently teaches 6th grade. She is the Head Coach for the North Star Bearcats.

 

From 2015-2017, North Star has amassed a record of 51-3 with a 3rd place finish at the state tournament in 2016, and as the State Runner-Up in 2017. In 2016, 2017, & 2022 she was named the District 8 COY. She was also named the Region 4 COY in 2017. Coach Vote was the State Coach of the Year in 2017. She has over 150 career wins as a Head Coach.

Mark Wiest

Mark Wiest

Coach Wiest has over 20 years of experience coaching at both the college and high school levels.  He currently has over 5 years of coaching at the AAU level. From 1997-2003, Mark was the Head Girl's Coach at Jamestown High School. During his six years, Mark won over 90 games and a school record of 20 in the 2001-02 season. His teams had winning records in 5 out of 6 years and advanced to the state tournament 3 times finishing in 3rd place during the 2001-02 season. Mark's teams received the ND Team Scholar Award each year he coached. During this time period, Coach Wiest was also an Assistant Coach for the Jamestown High School Boy's Team.

Mark was named the Head Women's Basketball Coach and Sports Information Director at Presentation College, in Aberdeen, SD for one year before being names the Head Women's Basketball Coach at the University of Jamestown (2004-2010) where his teams won 105 games during six seasons, claiming the last and only DAC (Dakota Athletic Conference) Championship. Mark's teams advanced to the NAIA National Tournament his last two years, advancing to the round of 16 and winning at that time a record 26 games. His team also won the NAIA Champion of Character Award for helping during the flood of 2009. Mark coach 9 All Conference players, 3 All-Americans, 10 NAIA Academic All-Americans, 45 DAC Academic Scholars, and was named a NAIA National Rater for 3 years.

Jordyn Jossart

Jordyn attended Bismarck Century High School and graduated in 2015 as a Gatorade Player of the Year Nominee and a 2x State Champion. Jordyn went on to play college basketball for two years at Marist College in New York. She transferred back to the University of Mary where she completed her degree and was a member of the University of Mary Women's Basketball Team. 

Jordyn is currently employed at Bismarck High School where she is a Special Education Teacher.  She is also an Assistant Coach for the Mandan High School Girl's Basketball Team.

Stephanie Miller

Stephanie Miller graduated in 2018 from North Star High School (Cando, ND). Stephanie helped the North Star Girl's Basketball Team advance to the Class 'B' State tournament in both the 2016 & 2017 seasons.  In 2016, the Bearcats finished 3rd at State, while in 2017, were the State Runner-Up. During her high school career, Stephanie was named to the All-State team, a Miss Basketball Finalist, and the Midco Sports Player of the Year Nominee. 

Stephanie went on to play at Lake Region State College where she was a 2x All-Conference player and chosen to the NJCAA All-Star Game. Stephanie transferred to Mayville State College where she completed her Allied Health degree and was also a member of the women's basketball team. 

Stephanie will attend Chiropractic School in the fall at NWHSU in the cities. 

Justin Lauf

Justin Lauf

Justin Lauf is currently in his second year as the head girls’ basketball coach at South Prairie High School near Minot, ND. Prior to working at South Prairie School, Lauf spent five years coaching the Sawyer Flashes; two as an assistant coach and three years as the head coach.  His varsity head coaching record is 44-23.

 

Outside of high school basketball season he has spent several years with his two sisters, Kyley (a junior), and Madison (an 8th grader) helping with the various traveling teams they played on around the state of North Dakota.  Coach Lauf has also been a part of several basketball camps in the Minot area.

 

Coach Lauf, a graduate of New Salem High School and Bismarck State College. He then transferred to Minot State in 2011 to attain a teaching degree in math education. In 2016, he obtained his Masters in Educational Leadership from Minnesota State University Moorhead.

Mike Crockett is originally from Langdon and graduated in 1992. Mike attended both UND & the University of Mary where he received his Master's of Physical Therapy in 1998. Mike currently lives in Fargo where he owns his own practice where he takes a special interest in helping people of all ages, with a special interest in sports injuries. 

Mike has been involved in coaching numerous boys and girls travel teams over the past 10 years, with summers spent coaching AAU. Mike is currently the elementary basketball coach for Northern Cass where his kids attend school. Mike and his wife Jodi have four children: Jase 19, Halle 17, Haidyn 15, and Brooks 12. In his spare time, Mike enjoys family time, hunting, and attending all of his kids' sporting activities.

Mackenzie Hughes graduated from Thompson High School in 2021. Mackenzie helped the Thompson girl's basketball team advance to the State Tournament in both 2018 & 2019 where they placed 4th and 3rd respectively. Mackenzie was a 3x All-State selection, a Miss Basketball Finalist, and a  Midco Sports Player of the Year Nominee.  In 2021, Mackenzie was chosen as the Senior Athlete of the Year, and also the North Dakota Gatorade Basketball Player of the Year.

Mackenzie currently plays on the Women's Basketball & Softball teams at Mayville State University. She is majoring in Business Administration with a specialization in Agribusiness & Marketing.

Mackenzie is a former ND Attack player having played with the program for 3 seasons.

Madelyn Schmidt
 

 Madelyn Schmidt is from southcentral North Dakota and a 2021 graduate of Kidder County. During her high school career, Madelyn was a 3x All-Region and All-State selection, and was named the Region 3 Senior Athlete of the Year. Madelyn currently holds the Kidder County Girl's Basketball records for total points, assists, steals, and 3-Pointers.

Madelyn currently attends the University of Jamestown where she is majoring in Political Science and minoring in Business. Madelyn is a member of the Women's Basketball team and played a key role as a freshman starter. This year at UJ, Madelyn was selected as a GPAC Honorable-Mention All-Conference Player.

Madelyn is a former ND Attack player having played with the program for 2 seasons.

 Keari Beaudrie has been coaching junior girl's basketball for the past 3 seasons, and is also serving as the coach for the elementary program at Westhope/Newburg. Keari has been involved with ND Attack since its inception in a variety of roles including coaching, hotel and website director.  Keari, and her husband Bob, reside in Newburg with their five boys Rocklin 14, Colt 12, Kasen 10, Pierce 7, and Hayes 4.

Keari's husband Bob, serves as the boy's director for ND Attack and also helps coach on our boys side.
